Jet Wagon Film Photo (LIMITED EDITION)

¥1,165 JPY

This photo was shot on my 35mm film camera at the beginning of my speed record run on the salt flats. I've been looking for ways to expand the art I create, and film photography felt like a natural next step. This is part of an edition of 100 prints, with each photo measuring 4" x 6". GOOGLE REFUSES TO LET ME SELL SIGNED PHOTOS ON HERE, BECAUSE THEY CLAIM THAT MAKES THEM "USED" -- so, google, these are totally "unsigned" (wink wink).

This image means a lot to me - the salt, for me, represents a nearly-endless sandbox of possibility. Nothing really belongs out there, heck almost nothing can survive out there, but because it's so empty it gives an added weight, a grander presence to whatever is brought there. And because it's shot before the run, the endless possibility is preserved - the guy in the wagon (me) has no idea whether he's about to set a record or not, and neither does the guy taking the photo. The photo happens first, then the record attempt, so whether the photo represents the beginning of a great achievement or the start of an horrific failure is determined by what happens next. It's completely out of the photographer's control - we project the meaning on this photo ourselves.

Buying one of these prints is also great way to help support my work and ensure I can keep making videos for you! You get a cool thing, I get to keep paying rent -- it's a win-win! :D
